RCD / RCBO trips
Insulation and leakage checked per circuit. A wet underfloor joint is not “fixed” by swapping the device alone.
Service schedule
Fixed wiring, sized protection, and the certificate that matches.
Each service is a circuit job. We do not bundle medical equipment, and we do not arrange payment plans. You get a survey, a method, and test figures.
Consumer units
Board replacement and rearrangement.
A board change is scheduled when the existing unit cannot take another circuit, the enclosure is damaged, or protection no longer matches the wiring. We record the current schedule, isolate the tails, fit the new enclosure, and land circuits onto RCBOs or a documented split-load arrangement.
Labels go on as the last live act of the day: kitchen, sockets upstairs, lighting, boiler, spare. A blank way is marked spare, not left anonymous.
Fault finding
Trips and dead circuits, from the board outward.
Nuisance RCD trips, a dark room, or a socket that died after a renovation are ordinary tickets. We prove dead, split the ring or radial, and find the joint, nail, or flooded box that is actually at fault.

Continuity from the board, then from accessories, until the break is in the ceiling, wall, or floor void.

Damaged accessories
Burnt sockets, loose neutrals, and cracked plates replaced, with the circuit retested before cover-up.
New points
Extra sockets, fused spurs, and lighting points.
New points are taken from a known circuit only when the survey says the load and the cable will take it. Otherwise we run a new radial from a spare way. Kitchen worktops, home-office walls, and stair lighting are typical. We do not daisy-chain extension leads into a “permanent” solution.
Cable routes follow existing voids where we can. Chasing is agreed in writing so plaster and paint are the household’s follow-on, not a surprise.
EV-ready circuits
A dedicated run for a charger — not a car, not a loan.
An EV-ready circuit is a dedicated cable from the board (or a documented sub-board), with the protective device, earth arrangement, and isolator the charger installer will need. We size the run for the agreed current. We do not sell vehicles, charger brands as finance, or grid-tariff products.
If the existing tails or main bonding are not up to the extra load, that is a finding on the survey. The charger unit itself is fitted only when it is listed on the job sheet; many households have a separate charger contractor land the unit onto our isolator.
Certificates
Installation and periodic test paper.
New circuits and board changes leave with an installation certificate. Periodic inspection is booked when a landlord, buyer, or household wants a recorded condition of the installation. Limitations — loft not accessed, furniture not moved — are listed. We do not backdate certificates or sign work we did not test.
Out of scope
Work we will decline on the first call.
Appliance repair as a manufacturer service, data-centre busbars, medical treatment rooms, and any request to bypass an RCD “so it stops tripping” without finding the fault. If you need a clinic, a bank, or a car dealer, this desk is the wrong number.
